How are CHEER squads formed?
Can I request my child to be on a specific team, for a certain coach, or with a friend/carpool buddy?
No.
The only requests automatically granted are for siblings playing on the same team. Any other request must be approved by the VP of Cheer AND the LCCPW Board of Directors. Only in rare and exceptional cases will requests be granted.
How long is CHEER season?
The cheer season officially begins Aug. 1st. and will continue through the end of November and possibly through the second week of December if your child’s squad enters regional and/or national championships.
Some competitive squads choose to participate in competitions that occur in January and February.
Where do cheerleaders practice?
Cheer practices are held at local fields where the football teams practice or indoor at Genuine Volleyball, 1223 Avenida Chelsea Vista 92081. All practice locations are insured by LCCPW.
How often do cheerleaders practice?
Practice days vary according to the coach's schedule and the availability of our indoor gym.
Where are the games held?
Games are on Saturdays, and typically begin the last weekend in August. Many games are at our home field, La Costa Canyon High School, and some games are away.
All Cheer squads are required to cheer at away games. The other teams in Palomar Conference are located in Carlsbad, Escondido, Fallbrook, Murrieta Valley, Oceanside, Poway, Ramona, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Penasquitos, San Marcos, Scripps Ranch, Temecula Valley, Torrey Pines, Valley Center, Vista and Wildomar.
The schedule will list the locations of each game and the website will have links to maps and driving directions. We typically will receive the game schedule for the first 6 - 8 games in the middle of August.
How are coaches chosen?
All coaches are volunteers. All coaches are chosen based on an interview process via a committee. All coaches must pass background checks, be CPR certified, become YCADA Certified, attend JAMZ coach training. Please contact vpcheer@lccpw.org if you would like to volunteer.
When and where is uniform "fitting" day?
What do I need to bring to "fitting" day?
All missing PAPERWORK is DUE on "fitting" day
(except report card copies)
When is "skills review" & "knowledge day"?
Girls will check in and will be given a number and take a photo. Each age group will have their skills evaluated at their designated time above. Afterwards girls will try on camp wear.
Please make sure to have swim suit under their cheer clothes.
When is "make-up" fitting day?
Make-up fittings are considered on a case by case basis.

Any other Competition Information?
All LCCPW CHEER teams will compete at Palomar Conference Cheer Competition.
Mite-Mite, Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee, JV and Varsity teams will compete at WESCON Regionals if they place 1st or 2nd place at Palomar Conference. If they place 1st or 2nd at Regionals, they will then move on to Nationals in Florida.
